$999 a year covers your whole school — any enrollment, unlimited teachers, no setup fee. As of October 2026, SmartPass, Securly Pass (formerly e-hallpass) and Minga don't publish prices; you request a demo or a quote first.
Public records show what two districts pay SmartPass: $3.15 per student (Frederick County, MD, 2025) and about $1.90 per student (Jim Thorpe Area, PA, 2026). At those rates, $999 equals roughly 317 to 526 students. A smaller school may pay less on a per-student plan; above that, the flat price costs less and the gap grows with enrollment. Either way, enrollment changes never change your Hallwise price.

If you do nothing, your account stays on the free Solo plan — you never lose access. To keep the full School Plan features (admin dashboard, school-wide pair restrictions, multiple teachers), you pay $999 for the year — by invoice, PO or card.

Yes. The Solo plan is free for a single teacher. Hallwise needs nothing switched on by IT and there is nothing to install. Sign in with Google or with an email code. If your district keeps a list of approved apps, check it first. Solo is not a trial. It stays free.
Yes. A teacher can turn on approval mode for any class, or for all their classes at once. Students then see a "Waiting for your teacher" screen, and the pass starts only when the teacher approves it. Approval mode is off by default and is included in both the free Solo plan and the School Plan.
